About Me

I am a senior fellow in the Department of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. My primary research focuses on identifying the labor frictions underlying structural unemployment and underemployment. My secondary research examines long-run economic growth in Latin America, particularly the political economy behind structural reforms.

I received my PhD in Economic History from the London School of Economics in July 2021. Between August 2021 and July 2023, I was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania under the supervision of Professor Jesús Fernández-Villaverde.

Prior to my PhD, I obtained my master's degree in Economics from Georgetown University, completed an Advanced Studies Program in International Economic Policy at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (Germany), and a B.Sc. in Economics from Universidad del Norte (Colombia).
